HEALTH-PRESERVING INTERVENTIONS BASED ON ETHNIC TRADITIONS

Abstract

The purpose of the article: to analyze health-preserving interventions based on ethnic traditions, to determine their impact and significance in the system of measures aimed at strengthening the health of the population, preventing the occurrence of diseases and increasing life expectancy, to outline ways of implementation in the health care system. Material and methods. The article examined the works of scientists on health preservation based on Ukrainian ethnic traditions and Cossack medicine, historical and biographical sources, international legal acts, regulatory legal acts of Ukraine that regulate health care issues. The study used methods of analysis, synthesis, deduction, induction, extrapolation, system-structural and doctrinal methods. Results. The article analyzes health-preserving interventions based on ethnic traditions of health improvement. The conceptual apparatus of a healthy lifestyle and its components is considered. A system of components of human health and development is proposed in the context of seven factors that influence the process of a healthy human existence in nature and in society. The concept of «health» is defined in the context of a seven-factor system of health preservation. The incomplete definition of the traditionally accepted concept of «health» in the philosophical aspect is noted. The difference between the concept of health as a «state» and a «process» is determined. Aspects of seven factors of human health are considered: physical, physiological, mental, energetic, spiritual, social, and ancestral. The inconsistencies of modern legal definitions with the philosophical aspects of these concepts are shown. The basic concept of human health as «life forces» in the context of ethnic traditions is noted. The article describes folk beliefs, worldviews regarding a healthy lifestyle and its traditions. The definitions of: physical, physiological, mental, energetic, spiritual, social, and family health are characterized. The connections between these components of a healthy lifestyle are determined. The article shows and describes the traditions of a healthy lifestyle of the Ukrainian people, in particular the Zaporozhian Cossacks. Historical examples of treatment with natural remedies, methods and means of preserving the health of the Cossacks, which have been passed down in folk medicine and traditions, are given. The principles of the concept of «Cossack medicine» are described. The modern issues of legal support for the development of ethnic traditions of preserving health are determined. Conclusions. Conclusions and recommendations for solving the problems presented in the article are proposed. The need for scientific multidisciplinary research of the concept of «Cossack medicine» and the implementation of its basic principles and postulates into the modern health care system (prevention, diagnostics, treatment and rehabilitation) and the system of training highly qualified personnel in the field of health care, as well as into the legal system and the legislative system, is substantiated. Possible directions for the development of public management mechanisms in the field of health care are considered in order to establish and ensure a preventive and preventive nature, a comprehensive social, environmental, medical and rehabilitation approach to health care as one of the basic principles of health care, enshrined in the current legislation of Ukraine.
